Precision Fabrics Group was created in 1988 in a leveraged buyout from Burlington Industries, and continues today as a privately-held company.  The Company has evolved from a traditional textile manufacturer into an engineered materials business, focused on highly technical, high-quality woven and nonwoven materials.  

Today, PFG employs approximately 600 associates and operates plants in North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee. Corporate headquarters are located in Greensboro, NC.   Our Vinton, VA plant specializes in weaving some of the most technically challenging continuous-filament fabrics in the world. Our Greensboro and Madison, TN facilities are world-class in the range of nonwoven products produced.

Precision Fabrics was the first ISO-qualified textile supplier in the USA. ISO continues to provide the discipline and framework for effective and efficient product development, customer service, and manufacturing.  Precision Fabrics has been ISO-registered to 9001 since 1993.  We were certified to 9001:2015 as of October 2018.  |  ISO certification

Lanty L Smith

Mr. Smith serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Precision Fabrics Group.  He founded Precision Fabrics in 1988 to purchase the existing businesses of the Precision Fabrics Division of Burlington Industries, Inc.  Mr. Smith was president of Burlington from 1986 to 1988. He joined Burlington as executive vice president and senior general counsel and then progressively assumed operating responsibility for several Burlington Divisions. Prior to joining Burlington, Mr. Smith was a partner in the law firm of Jones Day. Mr. Smith is also Chairman and CEO of Tippet Capital, LLC, Scion NeuroStim, LLC, AegisCN LLC and LadeRx LLC. Mr. Smith holds numerous other board memberships in for-profit companies, higher education, healthcare and civic organizations. Mr. Smith is a native of Sherrodsville, Ohio. He is an honors graduate in mathematics of Wittenberg University, and he earned a law degree with honors from Duke University. Mr. Smith and his wife, Margaret, have three daughters and ten grandchildren, and reside in Raleigh, NC.

Patrick J. Burns serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Precision Fabrics. Mr. Burns is the former President and CEO of AGY Holdings Corporation, a global leader in high performance glass fiber materials, serving in that role for 8 years. Prior to joining AGY, Mr. Burns served as Co-Chief Executive Officer of Precision Fabrics. Mr. Burns originally joined Precision Fabrics in 1998 as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Precision Fabrics, Mr. Burns served as Vice President, Sales and Marketing, of the Interior Systems Group of Lear Corporation (a Fortune 250 automotive supplier); and prior to that, Director, Business Development and Investor Relations for Masland Corporation. Other assignments included Staff Financial Analyst for International Business Machines and Assistant Vice President, Wachovia Corporation. Mr. Burns holds a BA in Economics from Vanderbilt University, and is an honors graduate of the MBA program at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. Mr. Burns and his wife, Liz, have a daughter and son, and reside in Greensboro, North Carolina.
